Istanbul to Host 2027 Spanish Super Cup Featuring Barcelona and Real Madrid
The Royal Spanish Football Federation has confirmed Istanbul as host of the 2027 Spanish Super Cup, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid set to contest the four-team event from 2 to 6 February.

RFEF president Rafael Louzan signed the hosting agreement in Istanbul on Thursday, taking the competition to Turkey for the first time. The 2027 edition will be staged there instead of Saudi Arabia because of a calendar conflict with the Asian Cup.
Barcelona arrive as La Liga champions, while Real Sociedad qualified as Copa del Rey winners. Real Madrid and Atletico complete the line-up for the season’s first Spanish trophy.
The opening semi-final will be played at Fenerbahce’s Chobani Stadium. Besiktas’ Tupras Stadium hosts the second last-four tie 24 hours later, before Galatasaray’s Ali Sami Yen Stadium stages the final. The three grounds can hold around 150,000 spectators in total.
Louzan said the arrangement represented more than a tournament-hosting deal, describing it as a connection between two football-loving countries. He added that football has a duty to bring nations and cultures closer, and indicated he wants the relationship between the Spanish and Turkish federations to continue beyond 2027.
The Istanbul switch preserves the federation’s expanded Super Cup model, which has become a major commercial event. The most recent Saudi-based edition produced €51 million for the RFEF, with funds shared between the four competing clubs and grassroots football in Spain.
Attention will now move to travel, stadium and supporter plans ahead of February 2027, when Turkish venues host Spain’s leading clubs for the trophy.
