Havertz and Musiala Set for MRI After Germany Draw

Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala are undergoing MRI scans after Germany’s 1-1 Nations League draw with the Netherlands, leaving Jürgen Klopp facing an immediate injury crisis at the start of his reign.

Havertz was forced off after 32 minutes following a heavy challenge from Quinten Timber. The Arsenal forward received on-field treatment before Younes Eboutalib replaced him, with concern centred on a possible hamstring issue. Musiala did not even reach kick-off after suffering an apparent thigh problem during the warm-up.

Klopp said the initial outlook was troubling, although he hoped neither player had suffered a serious injury. He expects both attacking players to miss Germany’s forthcoming matches, but wants them back as quickly as possible once the scan results are known.

Germany had looked set to hand Klopp a debut win when Felix Nmecha put them ahead before the interval. Cody Gakpo struck in stoppage time, however, to rescue a draw for the Netherlands and spoil the new Germany coach’s first match in charge.

Arsenal await Havertz diagnosis

Havertz’s problem adds to Mikel Arteta’s growing list of international-break concerns. Declan Rice has withdrawn from the England senior squad, while Marli Salmon has left England Under-18 duty.

Jurrien Timber was also left out of the Netherlands matchday group against Germany as the Dutch staff took a careful approach with the defender following recent fitness issues. His brother Quinten’s challenge on Havertz has now left Arsenal waiting anxiously for Germany’s medical update.

Arsenal’s immediate concern is whether Havertz can recover in time for the Premier League meeting with Leeds United on October 10. Germany, meanwhile, are due to play Greece twice, either side of a key fixture against Serbia, but Klopp may have to plan those games without both Havertz and Musiala.
