Luis Enrique dismisses concerns over PSG star Kvaratskhelia’s form
Luis Enrique has insisted there is “nothing to worry about” with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as Paris Saint-Germain prepare to host Le Mans in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
Luis Enrique backs Kvaratskhelia
The PSG coach moved quickly to defend the Georgia forward after recent questions over his level, stressing that fluctuations in form are normal.
- “Kvara is a top, top player and he has proved it in important moments,” Luis Enrique said.
- “I am very happy that he is part of the squad.”
- “He is a person, not a machine. It is normal to have good periods and less good ones. There is no cause for concern.”
PSG go into the match at the Parc des Princes having won their last three games in all competitions. Their run included wins against Brest and Marseille before the international break.
New signings praised after early-season assessment
Luis Enrique said the club’s summer arrivals are settling in positively, while noting that every player’s adjustment takes a different amount of time.
Language, individual character and several other factors can affect how quickly newcomers adapt, he said. The Spaniard added that he is pleased with what he has seen from the recruits in training.
Although he remains demanding with his players, Luis Enrique believes PSG’s performances at the start of the league season merited a higher points total than they currently have.
Le Mans test after international break
Promoted Le Mans arrive in Paris unbeaten in three matches, and Luis Enrique warned PSG not to underestimate the visitors.
- Le Mans have demonstrated that they can compete in Ligue 1.
- PSG must be more alert than usual, Luis Enrique said.
- The coach highlighted the added difficulty of returning immediately after an international break.
What happens next: PSG will look to use home advantage and extend their winning sequence on Saturday, with Luis Enrique targeting three points to move the champions higher in the Ligue 1 standings.
