Magic: The Gathering has revealed a major “Headliner” chase card for its upcoming Star Trek crossover: a signed, full-art Captain Jean-Luc Picard card featuring an autograph by Patrick Stewart. Wizards of the Coast says these signed cards will be available in limited quantities and only through Collector Boosters when the expansion launches in November.

Wizards of the Coast teased the Star Trek card during the build-up to the crossover, highlighting that the set will include an assortment of autographed, full-art “Headliner” cards tied to Star Trek’s captains. Alongside Captain Jean-Luc Picard, the lineup also points to signed full-art versions of Captain James T. Kirk and Captain Kathryn Janeway.

The company’s preview indicates the signed versions will be hand-signed by the actors connected to those roles—explicitly showing Patrick Stewart signing the Captain Picard card during the teaser.

These autographed cards will only be obtainable in Collector Boosters of the Star Trek expansion, which is scheduled to release on November 13.

Signed cards aren’t new to Magic, but Wizards’ decision to restrict autographed Star Trek “Headliners” to Collector Boosters shapes how players will approach the set. Star Trek mechanics preview: Stardates, shock lands, and scene-style cards

Wizards also outlined how the Star Trek crossover will function in gameplay and presentation. The set’s main bonus-card theme will be “Stardates,” which are inserted into booster packs and used to reprint popular cards tied to iconic characters and moments from the franchise.

The crossover will include design treatments inspired by Star Trek’s LCARS interface. Wizards confirmed that this will extend to alternate printings for Magic’s “shock lands,” meaning players can expect franchise-themed versions of these widely recognized dual lands.

On top of the “Stardates” bonus cards, Wizards says it will carry over the “scene card” concept introduced in the Marvel Super Heroes crossover. For Star Trek, that means Borderless cards that can be assembled into recognizable iconic scenes.

What’s next in 2026 and beyond: Hobbit in August, Reality Fracture, and 2027 set reveals

The Star Trek expansion is only one part of a larger 2026 schedule. Wizards has already set August for the next Universes Beyond release with The Hobbit, which will expand the Middle-earth crossover and include a new version of The One Ring.

Wizards also confirmed another in-universe Magic expansion for 2026: Reality Fracture, described as a unique set focused on an alternate universe created by planeswalker Jace.

Looking further ahead, Wizards previewed additional 2027 plans during MagicCon Amsterdam. The company says 2027 will begin with a new plane, Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, an underwater kingdom. It also announced a summer set that merges two popular planes—Kamigawa and Ikoria—under the Kamigawa: Titanbreach name.

Finally, Wizards revealed an additional 2027 in-universe expansion called Zhalfir, which it says will focus heavily on “Afro-fantasy” and will be the first expansion centered on that plane.
