Manchester United rue missed chance after derby defeat with man advantage
Manchester United have been left in 13th place after failing to make their one-man advantage count in a damaging derby defeat, with the squad now turning immediately to Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Belgian midfielder admitted there was anger inside the dressing room after United could not find the decisive quality in front of goal at Old Trafford.
He said the players knew their display fell below the required level and accepted that the final-third execution was not good enough. United, he added, made poor passing choices, did not exploit the available areas effectively and forced attacks too quickly.
“Everyone is frustrated because we are capable of much more,” he said. “We want to perform properly, but it did not come together for us today.”
He also pointed to the missing final ball, saying United did not create enough clear opportunities to score.
Red card failed to swing the game
United had been handed a major opening in the 23rd minute when Phil Foden was dismissed for a foul on Bruno Fernandes. The City player received a straight red card, leaving the visitors to play the rest of the contest with 10 men.
