Juan Musso has revealed Lionel Messi’s signed Argentina shirt after the captain’s farewell appearance, with the message recalling the goalkeeper’s frustration at being beaten in training.

The Atletico Madrid goalkeeper posted an image of the shirt on Instagram after Argentina’s packed farewell night at Estadio Monumental. Messi addressed the inscription to Juan with affection, joking that he would miss scoring against him and seeing the keeper angry.

Musso, 32, answered with a short message of his own: “Forever grateful.”

The pair only played together twice for Argentina, but their time in the national-team camp clearly produced a lasting bond. Their first competitive appearance in the same side came in September 2021, when Argentina beat Bolivia 3-0 in World Cup qualifying.

They were together again for the 5-0 friendly win over Zambia in April 2026.

Musso came through Racing Club’s academy before moving to Europe, where he represented Udinese and Atalanta ahead of his switch to Atletico. He also formed part of Argentina’s Copa America triumph in 2021.

Messi’s final Albiceleste outing came on Tuesday night in front of more than 85,000 fans. Argentina beat Benin 3-0, with the veteran forward converting from the spot and supplying two assists as his international career came to an end.
