Bellring Games has released a new post-launch patch for its extraction brawler Mistfall Hunter, boosting the damage and utility of the game’s newest class, the Withered Knight, along with a wide set of fixes across gameplay, UI, and console connectivity.

Withered Knight gets more bite in the July 30 update

Mistfall Hunter launched on July 29/30 following a series of betas, and the developer has already followed up with a balance update dated July 30. The headline change targets the Withered Knight, a class designed around constant pressure, burst damage from its Wither ability, and chase options using dash attacks and a grappling hook.

  1. In the beta, the Withered Knight wielded only a greatsword.
  2. In the full release, the class now has a polearm-and-shield loadout, matching the multi-weapon structure of the game’s other classes.
  3. The July 30 patch increases the power of several Withered Knight attacks and defensive utility tied to that polearm-and-shield kit.
  • Withered Knight — Polearm and Shield
    • Charged Dash: Slightly reduced energy drain during the shield-raising charge phase, and slightly improved turning performance for a Tier-1 charged dash.
    • Basic Attack: Slightly increased damage on the 1st and 3rd thrust hits.
    • Spear Barrage: Slightly increased damage multiplier.
    • Rainbow Piercer: Slightly reduced energy cost and slightly reduced cooldown.
    • Block: Reduced energy cost.

Patch also addresses crashes, reconnection, and multiple UI issues

Alongside the class tuning, the July 30 update includes a large set of fixes reported since launch. These cover visual and gameplay mismatches, stability problems, controller input issues, and console connection behavior.

  • Fixed a visual discrepancy where the Sorcerer’s Flameblade effect range didn’t match its actual damage range.
  • Fixed incorrect key prompts in the Sorcerer spellcasting tutorial for certain beginner-guide languages.
  • Fixed an issue where repeatedly entering and exiting the area around a Soul Tree while summoning an extraction point could consume an extra Soul of Return.
  • Fixed an issue preventing item splitting via the secondary menu.
  • Fixed console matchmaking behavior where some players could not reconnect after a disconnect.
  • Fixed an occasional impassable-area anomaly in the “General Harald” challenge.
  • Fixed controls becoming unresponsive if the guide UI was closed very quickly.
  • Fixed a crash caused by moving a controller cursor to certain regions on the Seasonal Leaderboard screen.
  • Fixed inability to unequip equipment from the Loadout system when using a controller.
  • Fixed a controller D-pad issue preventing selection of certain gem slots in the Auction House.
  • Fixed an incorrect pop-up when exiting the game on Xbox PC.
  • Fixed a PS5 deck-screen display anomaly, with the noted workaround of restarting the game.
  • Fixed Training Room settings failing to open (public settings) when using a controller.
  • Fixed missing audio for the “Execution Animation: Execute–Voidflame Requiem.”
  • Corrected the Sorcerer talent “Chant Guard” description: it increases chanting speed for Stardust spells, prevents the first received attack from interrupting chanting (including the first-attack behavior around Stardust Torrent’s casting phase), and includes a cooldown.

Early player interest remains high on Steam

Even with a B-tier class ranking mention in external coverage, the Withered Knight’s kit is positioned as a strong mix of flanking pressure and direct brawling. At the time this update was reported, the game had nearly 30,000 concurrent players on Steam, suggesting continued interest in the extraction brawler format beyond shooter-focused trends.
