Pedro Neto signs new Chelsea contract until 2032
Pedro Neto has signed a new long-term Chelsea contract running until 2032, handing the club a major boost before its Premier League trip to Hull City.
The 26-year-old Portugal winger has produced 21 goals and 19 assists since arriving from Wolves and has established himself as an important figure in Chelsea’s squad.
Neto said he wants to build on the progress already made in west London: “There have been good moments for me personally and for the group. Now I want many more. I’m very excited because I believe we can achieve a lot together.”
Chelsea encouraged by Palmer-Rogers link
- Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers came off the bench in the midweek Carabao Cup tie as Chelsea recovered from two goals down.
- Rogers impressed with his creative impact during the turnaround, but Palmer collected the Man of the Match award.
- The two 24-year-olds then shared a light-hearted exchange in front of the cameras over the prize.
- Chelsea coach Alonso welcomed their competitive edge, saying both players have reason to feel they deserve individual recognition.
Alonso said Palmer and Rogers are enjoying their football together and take satisfaction from each other’s contributions. He also highlighted Joao Pedro’s link-up play with the pair as another attacking strength.
The Palmer-Rogers understanding had been noted before Rogers completed his summer move. They previously played together in Manchester City’s academy system and with England’s international set-up.
Alonso said Palmer had an influential role in the move, alongside Rogers and the club, and praised Rogers for adapting quickly. The midfielder is settled, enjoying his football and connecting well with his new team-mates.
Hull test comes next
Chelsea now face newly promoted Hull City, who sit one point above them in the Premier League table after an impressive opening to the campaign.
Hull head coach Sergej Jakirovic recently joked that stopping Chelsea’s attacking players required opponents “to kick them”. Alonso expects a demanding contest after approaching the previous Arsenal match with the same level of respect.
He said Hull have belief, dangerous qualities and a coach doing strong work, adding that Chelsea must reach their best level to take the points.
