The players who started against Rayo completed a lighter session after the 4-1 win, while the remaining members of Jose Mourinho’s squad took part in more demanding drills ahead of the short turnaround.
Silva, handed a starting place against Rayo, featured for 69 minutes as Madrid controlled the match at the Bernabeu. The 32-year-old former Manchester City midfielder said the result and attacking display gave the squad plenty to build on.
“The three points matter most,” Silva said. “We scored four and played very well. The first half was especially good, but the overall performance was strong. We created many opportunities again in front of our supporters, and now we must get ready quickly for the next match.”
Madrid’s ability to convert chances has been a major feature of their recent form, although Silva admitted he is still adjusting after arriving in the summer. He said the challenge is learning the movements of his new team-mates and understanding Mourinho’s requirements in a different league.
“It is a new experience and I am still getting to know the team,” he said. “I am working out how I can improve and contribute more. I am adapting well and I am happy. Apart from the match in Seville, the team has been very strong, and there is another important away game in three days.”
Silva explained that his role is to connect Madrid’s deeper players with their attacking unit, helping move the ball cleanly towards Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Diomande. He is also expected to contribute to the press and the defensive workload when Madrid are without possession.
“With the ball, I need to help the build-up and make sure our attackers receive it in the right areas,” Silva added. “Their ability to beat players makes that important. Without it, there is also pressing and defensive work. I want to keep improving and give the team my best.”
