Thomas Frank awaits next job after difficult Tottenham spell
Thomas Frank is back on the market after his Tottenham exit, with the former Brentford boss expected to wait for the right opening following a difficult eight-month spell in north London.
The 52-year-old has already returned to football through punditry work at the 2026 World Cup, but a managerial comeback is viewed as likely once a suitable vacancy appears.

Frank joined Brentford in October 2018 and helped turn the Bees into an established Premier League side. His work in recruitment and player management enhanced his reputation before Tottenham appointed him in the summer of 2025 as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement.
But Spurs were already deep in trouble and Frank could not reverse their decline. His departure in February was followed by further changes, with Tudor handing over to De Zerbi as Tottenham eventually avoided relegation but again ended the campaign in 17th place.
Former Brentford forward Clinton Morrison believes Frank’s record in west London should ensure he receives another opportunity. Morrison said the Tottenham role was an exceptionally tough assignment, with Frank unable to get enough from a struggling group.
He pointed to Crystal Palace as a club that could have suited Frank before Pierre Sage was appointed, given the similarities between Palace and Brentford. Morrison also highlighted Brentford’s recruitment operation as a major factor in the club’s progress under Frank.
Frank is now expected to monitor the early weeks of the season as pressure rises on coaches who make slow starts. Morrison believes he will return when a club decides a change is needed and offers him the right project.
One possible London vacancy could emerge at Fulham if their poor opening continues. Arbeloa, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid defender, is under early scrutiny after three league defeats following Marco Silva’s departure.
Morrison said Fulham have enough talent to recover, but warned that Silva’s achievements left a difficult standard for his successor to match. He believes Arbeloa’s more open approach has shown promise in attack, although Fulham have conceded too freely.
Fulham face an immediate test at Anfield this weekend and need results quickly. Brentford, meanwhile, will look to protect their unbeaten start when they visit Bournemouth, with Frank set to watch developments from outside the game for now.
