GeForce RTX 5090 median US price hits ~$4,700 before tax

Nvidia’s latest high-end push is getting hit by another round of GPU pricing pressure in the US. The GeForce RTX 5090 has climbed to a median of about $4,700 in the United States before taxes, putting it roughly 135% above Nvidia’s $1,999 suggested retail price and continuing a broader rise across the RTX 50 lineup.

The trend is tied to ongoing memory constraints often summarized as a “RAMageddon” situation. In June, the RTX 5090—described as Nvidia’s top model—was reported at a median of roughly $4,300 in the US. By August, the median price at major retailer Newegg had risen further to around $4,700 before taxes.

Even with the latest jump, pricing still lands differently by region. In Germany, the RTX 5090 is listed at a median of about €5,090 as of August 12, 2026. If an average US Sales Tax of roughly 8% is applied to the $4,700 median, the total comes to about $5,080, which the report estimates as roughly €4,400 in currency terms—meaning the US remains “cheaper” than Germany despite the increase.

RTX 5080 and the rest of the RTX 50 range

The RTX 5090 isn’t the only model climbing. The RTX 5080 moved from about $1,460 in June to around $1,500 by August, a rise of about 3%. Versus its $999 suggested retail price, the RTX 5080’s median price is about 50% higher.

Some models show bigger changes. The RTX 5070 Ti holds steady at around $1,100 in the median. The RTX 5070, however, increases sharply: from $659.99 in June to $899.99 in August, which the report frames as a 36% jump.

The steepest movement appears on the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB of VRAM. Its median price climbs from about $570 in June to about $805 in August, a 39% increase. For the RTX 5060 Ti with 8GB, the median sits at roughly $530 in August.

The base RTX 5060 also rises: it reaches around $470 in the median, up 27% compared with its June level. Finally, the RTX 5050 edges higher from about $300 in June to about $315 in August, a 5% increase.
