Vincent Kompany’s Bayern go into the match after a 2-1 league win at Elversberg on September 13. They had also swept aside FK Bodø/Glimt 5-0 in the Champions League three days earlier.
Bayern have four wins and a draw from their early competitive fixtures, without a defeat. Their last five matches have produced 15 goals scored and only three conceded, although a goalless draw at Schalke ended their run of scoring in successive league outings.
Nathaniel Brown has made an immediate impact following his €50 million summer arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 23-year-old has filled in centrally during an injury-hit spell before moving back to left-back, with Luis Diaz calling the defender “spectacular” and praising his adaptability.
Alphonso Davies is also available after returning to fitness and form. The Canada international scored against Bodø/Glimt after missing much of last season through injury, and has stayed in Munich rather than joining his national side for friendly matches because of personal commitments.
David Santos Daiber and Tarek Buchmann are Bayern’s only listed injury absentees. There are no suspensions for the home side.
Union’s problems are more extensive. Mauro Lustrinelli’s team were beaten 3-1 at Schalke on September 11, following a 4-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen six days earlier.
The Berlin side have lost three of their previous five competitive fixtures, drawing one and winning one. Their 4-2 DFB-Pokal victory over Eintracht Braunschweig and a 3-3 league draw against Eintracht Frankfurt have been the brighter moments in a run that has brought 13 goals scored but 14 allowed.
Stanley N’Soki, Andrik Markgraf, Oliver Burke, Marvin Friedrich and Kastriot Imeri are ruled out through injury for Union. Lustrinelli has no suspended players.
Bayern won the latest meeting 4-0 at the Allianz Arena on March 21. Across the last five encounters, Bayern have claimed three victories and one draw, with Union winless; the only stalemate was a 2-2 result at the Alte Försterei in November 2025.
