Marmoush backs Tottenham breakthrough under De Zerbi

Omar Marmoush says Tottenham are close to finding their breakthrough after their Carabao Cup exit at Liverpool produced their first goal against top-flight opposition this season.

Spurs have yet to win or score in their first four Premier League fixtures under Roberto De Zerbi, but Marmoush believes the side’s attacking output has been improving despite the results.

The summer signing from Manchester City pointed to the growing number of opportunities being created and backed Tottenham’s depth to make the decisive difference as the campaign develops.

“With every match, we are making more and more chances, so I am convinced we are nearly there,” Marmoush said. “There is a lot of quality in the starting team and among the players coming on from the bench to give us that extra push. Once the little things start working, it can become very good.”

Confidence remains the target

Tottenham’s defeat at Anfield ended their League Cup hopes, leaving De Zerbi and his players to concentrate fully on the league and the search for a first victory.

Marmoush said the difficult opening period can strengthen a squad adapting to a new manager, while also thanking supporters for their backing through the early setbacks.

“Periods like this build mentality and bring the group closer,” he added. “Those small positive moments give us another lift, and we need to keep building belief among ourselves. The fans have been incredible and have supported us from the start.”
