Cole Palmer Signs Chelsea Extension to 2034 Amid Manchester United Links
Cole Palmer has agreed a one-year Chelsea contract extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2034, ending any immediate prospect of a return to Manchester.
What we know
- The 24-year-old England international had been linked with Manchester United, the club he supported as a boy, after graduating from Manchester City’s academy. Chelsea have no intention of selling him.
- Palmer struck 25 goals in his first Chelsea season and won the PFA Young Player of the Year award. He has since won the Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup with the Blues.
- Fitness problems limited him to 34 games and 11 goals last season. This campaign, he has four goals and three assists.
- He returned to the England squad in September after missing World Cup selection, but withdrew from the group.
- Chelsea signed Palmer’s close friend Morgan Rogers for a club-record £117 million ($157m) in the 2026 summer window. Rogers, Palmer and Joao Pedro are now central to the club’s attacking plans.
- Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet believes Palmer looks settled and has the support around him to sustain elite form. He said Palmer’s freedom from the right, including his ability to drift deeper alongside Moises Caicedo, makes him difficult for opponents to contain.
What happens next
Palmer is expected to remain a key figure as Chelsea chase further silverware. The Blues sit fourth in the Premier League and have reached the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, with Poyet backing the No.10 to deliver another strong season.
