Cristiano Ronaldo has offered support to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the Georgia winger suffered a ruptured ACL in his right knee during the Champions League win over Barcelona.

Kvaratskhelia, 25, was injured in a collision with Barcelona’s Xavi Espart during PSG’s 4-2 victory. The French club said he will undergo surgery in the coming days, with no recovery date announced, although the injury is expected to rule him out for the remainder of the season.

The PSG forward responded publicly with a defiant message, saying he would return stronger despite facing months of rehabilitation. He wrote that he had believed he was ready for everything, but now understood he would have to endure “labor, pain, tears” before coming back for those who have supported him.

“I know I have to come back stronger for my people who always have my back,” Kvaratskhelia said. “I won’t let you down. I promise I won’t waste a second. Thank you all for your support. See you soon.”

Ronaldo sends recovery message

Ronaldo replied to the post with a message drawn from his own experience of football’s setbacks. “The hardest battles in football are often the ones nobody sees,” he told Kvaratskhelia. “I know that feeling, Kvara.

“But never forget what brought you this far, and don’t let a difficult moment make you doubt how far you can go. Keep that fire on. Your best is still to come.”

PSG captain Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi, Ferran Torres and Désiré Doué were among the players to send messages of support. Doué told his teammate: “Stay strong my brother. You will come back stronger. God is with you.”

PSG will now wait for the operation and subsequent medical assessment before setting out a clearer timetable for Kvaratskhelia’s return.
