Estevao Focused on Chelsea Chances Amid Limited Minutes Under Alonso
Estevao has brushed aside questions over his reduced Chelsea role after returning to the Brazil squad, insisting he is concentrating on training standards and making the most of every chance he receives.
Chelsea competition has limited Estevao’s early involvement
The 19-year-old winger has played 148 minutes across six appearances for Chelsea under Alonso this season, with only two starts to his name.
It is a sharp change from 2025-26, when Estevao became a more regular option under Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior. The former Palmeiras prospect finished that campaign with eight goals and four assists from 36 matches.
Alonso’s arrival at Stamford Bridge in July has altered the attacking hierarchy, but Estevao declined to criticise the head coach or turn his selection situation into a public dispute.
“Every coach has his own playing style,” Estevao said. “We work every day and I give everything every day. That is what I do.
“Chelsea have quality players. I focus on what I can control: doing my best in training and, when the opportunity comes, doing my best. It is day by day. I want to take every opportunity, leave the rest in God’s hands and trust in myself.”
Brazil call offers route back to match sharpness
Estevao’s recall gives him a significant opportunity to build rhythm after an injury kept him out of the World Cup. He has scored five times in 11 senior appearances for Brazil.
Brazil are scheduled to play India on October 3, followed by two friendlies against Australia on November 25 and 29. International minutes could be especially valuable as Chelsea move into a demanding stretch of fixtures.
