Harvey Elliott handed Valencia lifeline after Javier Aguirre appointment
Harvey Elliott has a three-week window to revive his Valencia loan after Javier Aguirre was brought in to replace the sacked Carlos Corberan, with the midfielder yet to start after only 88 minutes from three La Liga substitute appearances.
The 23-year-old is under immediate pressure at Mestalla. Valencia are paying most of his Premier League salary, making the Liverpool loanee the third-best paid player in the squad, and scrutiny has intensified over claims that he reported for duty above his target playing weight.
Elliott is using the international break as a personal mini pre-season, aiming to improve his fitness and meet Valencia’s physical standards before league action resumes. Liverpool still hold Elliott’s contract until 2028. Valencia do not have to buy him when the loan ends next summer, meaning his long-term destination remains unresolved.
