HWiNFO 8.51 Beta Adds Per-Memory-Chip VRAM Temperatures for GeForce & Radeon

HWiNFO’s latest beta update is expanding GPU sensor monitoring beyond hotspot readings: it now exposes temperature data for individual memory chips. The change improves what players and PC builders can verify in real time—especially on newer graphics cards where power and thermals can vary across modules rather than staying uniform across the whole memory array.

Until now, HWiNFO already had access to GPU hotspot sensors for NVIDIA Blackwell cards, though NVIDIA had hidden that sensor information since the current generation began. The v8.51-6045 beta goes further: release notes indicate the tool can display temperature information for each individual memory chip on the graphics card.

This appears to apply to a broad set of GeForce and Radeon models. On the GeForce side, the feature is described as working on many cards that use GDDR6X or GDDR7 memory—covering a large portion of the GeForce RTX 5000 and RTX 4000 line. The same per-chip monitoring is also expected for AMD Navi GPUs using RDNA architecture, starting from the Radeon RX 5000 series.

What the monitoring looks like in practice

In a test with an MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X, HWiNFO reported hotspot temperatures for all eight GDDR7 memory chips. The UI behavior matters: if you don’t manually expand the per-chip entries, you only see a single maximum memory hotspot temperature for the full set of chips.

After roughly half an hour of full load, the GDDR7 modules reached up to 78°C. The per-module maximums varied by chip, landing between about 70°C and 78°C depending on the specific memory module.

On the AMD side, testing with a Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT Pure showed the feature working as well, with a similar visual layout. However, expanding the per-chip hotspot values revealed a key difference: the Radeon model has twice as many memory modules as the GeForce sample. As a result, HWiNFO displays 16 individual hotspot readings instead of eight.

On that Sapphire Radeon card, the highest memory hotspot reached 91°C, with individual module values ranging from roughly 84°C up to 91°C.

Additional GPU and platform sensor improvements

HWiNFO v8.51 was also extended to support additional AMD models, including the Radeon RX 9060 XT LP and Radeon RX 9050. Beyond GPUs, the update aims to restore correct monitoring for NGU frequencies on Arrow Lake CPUs, and it improves sensor monitoring on next-generation Gigabyte motherboards.
