Julian Hall Weighs USA and Poland After First USMNT Call-Up
Julian Hall has received his first United States senior call-up, but the New York Red Bulls forward says his international future remains undecided as Poland also remains an option.
The 18-year-old, included among 13 first-time selections in Mauricio Pochettino’s first U.S. squad since the summer World Cup defeat to Belgium, holds American and Polish citizenship. Hall was born in New York City and has worn “Zakrzewski” on his shirt in tribute to his Polish mother.
“It is not settled for me,” Hall said after the squad announcement. “I am grateful for this chance and want to make an impact, but I am still open to Poland. My mother is from there and it means a lot to me.”
Hall can still choose Poland
Hall has played for U.S. youth sides at under-15 and under-17 level, while also attending Poland youth camps. He previously said he had taken a neutral approach because both countries had shown interest and he respects each part of his family background.
A senior appearance in the coming friendlies would not tie Hall permanently to the United States. FIFA eligibility rules mean a player becomes committed only after featuring in an official competitive representative fixture organised by FIFA or a confederation; friendly matches do not make that commitment.
What happens next
- Hall will join the U.S. camp later this month alongside Red Bulls teammate Adri Mehmeti, another first-time call-up.
- The United States face Peru, Chile, Canada and Mexico in friendlies running from September 26 to October 6.
- Hall could make his senior debut during that run, while retaining the right to represent Poland in the future.
The teenager arrives in the national setup in strong club form. Since making his professional debut in 2023, Hall has produced nine goals and five assists across 25 MLS appearances in his breakout Red Bulls campaign.
