Arsenal Revive Interest in Bournemouth Forward Eli Junior Kroupi
Arsenal have revived their interest in Bournemouth forward Kroupi as Mikel Arteta looks to rebuild an attack thinned by the departures of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. The 20-year-old remains sidelined by a foot problem, but Arsenal are prepared to assess him closely once he returns, with Bournemouth expected to seek about £80m.
Kroupi is forecast to regain full match sharpness between late October and November after missing the opening part of the 2026/27 season. Arsenal want proof that the injury has not affected the acceleration and clinical edge that made him one of the Premier League’s breakout players last term.
The French attacker scored 13 league goals in his first English top-flight campaign for Bournemouth in 2025/26 and was nominated for the 2026 Ballon d’Or Men’s Young Talent of the Year award. His form has made him a major asset for the Cherries, who are not expected to lower their demands easily.
Arsenal added Christos Tzolis in the summer but made no comparable replacement in the central attacking area after Martinelli and Jesus were sold. Arteta is now seeking a high-level forward capable of leading a more interchangeable front line rather than simply operating as a traditional penalty-box striker.
Why Arsenal like Kroupi
Kroupi’s background as an attacking midfielder is a key part of Arsenal’s interest. He can retreat into midfield, receive in pockets between the lines and draw defenders away from central areas, potentially opening routes for Bukayo Saka and Arsenal’s other wide forwards.
Rather than relying solely on battles with centre-backs, he is seen as a forward who can drift into half-spaces, combine quickly and then arrive to finish. His ability to strike with either foot would also offer Arteta another option against compact opponents, with Arsenal believing his movement could create room for their inside attackers.
The next step is Kroupi’s recovery. Arsenal scouts are set to monitor his comeback before any move progresses, while Bournemouth’s likely £80m valuation would require a substantial commitment from the Emirates hierarchy.
