The 28-year-old has forced his way back into the picture after an uncertain spell that followed his arrival in Turin in the summer of 2024. His first season was interrupted by injury problems and changes in the dugout, before Juventus sent him to Atletico Madrid on loan for 2025-26.
Gonzalez enjoyed his time in Spain, but did not make enough La Liga appearances for Atletico’s compulsory purchase provision to come into effect. Atletico later sought a permanent deal, but their proposed fee fell well below the €32 million figure set in the agreement and no deal was reached.
Back at Juventus, Gonzalez has benefited from Spalletti’s need for attacking options. Injuries among the forward line, including to Kenan Yildiz, have handed the Argentine a sustained opportunity. He has featured five times in all competitions this term and begun each of the club’s last three Serie A fixtures.
Juventus said the extension builds on the project that started when Gonzalez first joined the club. The club also pointed to the winger’s ability to offer variation in attack, as well as his experience and influence within the squad.
The new agreement removes the immediate uncertainty over his future. Gonzalez now faces a key stretch in a crowded Juventus schedule, although competition for places will rise again as injured attackers return.
