Le Havre Reject Chance to Sign Free Agent Raheem Sterling
Le Havre have turned down the chance to sign Raheem Sterling, leaving the free-agent winger still searching for a new club after a second Ligue 1 side also rejected an approach.
French move fails to materialise
- Sterling was proposed to Le Havre, who are bottom of Ligue 1, but the Normandy club decided they did not need another wide attacker.

A difficult route back
Sterling left Manchester City for Chelsea in 2022 after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most productive forwards. He had been a regular in the England squad and won four league titles during his time at City.
His Chelsea spell did not deliver the expected revival, with consistency hard to find before he dropped down the pecking order. A loan at Arsenal then failed to change the picture: Sterling made 28 appearances for the Gunners, scoring once and registering five assists.

Form and legal case
Sterling has not scored in competitive football since September 2024. That prolonged run without a goal has raised concerns for clubs assessing a player once renowned for his pace, movement and finishing.
He has also pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possessing six canisters of nitrous oxide, possessing nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen during a police investigation.
The case followed a road collision in which his vehicle struck a motorway safety barrier. No other person was injured.
Across his Liverpool and Manchester City careers, Sterling recorded 320 Premier League appearances and 165 direct goal contributions. His next move will be crucial if he is to rebuild his standing after an increasingly difficult period on and off the pitch.
