Palworld Update 1.0.1 Goes Live After July 2026 1.0 Release
The first post-launch update for Palworld is live for players who want to make sure they’re running the newest version after the game’s successful 1.0 release. While Palworld version 1.0.1 doesn’t introduce new gameplay content, developer Pocketpair is still encouraging everyone to apply the patch to reduce the chance of running into avoidable problems.
Patch landing after the 1.0 release
Palworld hit its 1.0 milestone after two years in early access, and Pocketpair moved quickly to follow up with version 1.0.1 to tackle issues that were still hanging around. The update requires roughly 240 MB of extra storage space.
- Fixed a problem where Palworld save files could be unintentionally removed after certain actions.
- Addressed a PlayStation-specific save error loop that could repeatedly trigger when players tried to return to the game’s title screen.
- Resolved a bug on Xbox where the game client would stall for about 30 seconds after teleporting, before resuming normal performance.
Why the save fixes and status effects matter
Pocketpair also suggested that players consider starting a new save for the 1.0 release. Even so, players who were active during the early access period can still load their older worlds in the full version.
It’s still not clear what caused the accidental save deletion behavior in Palworld version 1.0. Beyond the save-related changes, the patch also targets a gameplay issue tied to early progression: a separate problem previously caused the burning status to linger after interacting with a campfire longer than intended.
In Palworld, burning inflicts damage over time and raises the target’s temperature. On top of that, some Pal Partner Skills can add extra consequences for targets that are affected by burn, including taking more damage from other Pal attacks. Since a campfire is one of the first base items players can craft during the early stages, the 1.0.1 update should make the beginning of the game smoother for new arrivals.
As for the Xbox freezing fix, Palworld is available on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It’s not confirmed whether the freezing issue affected all Xbox hardware or only particular models. Still, the concern is understandable: Xbox Series X/S relies on SSD storage for fast load times, so any stutter or hang that shows up around SSD-backed gameplay would be a serious signal for developers to investigate further.
1.0 performance highlights and what’s next
Palworld’s 1.0 release was a major return point for players, bringing crowds back to the Palpagos Islands to see what changed since the early access era. Pocketpair reported that more than 850,000 players were concurrently logged into Palworld on Steam during the second weekend of July. Even with a small decline from peak numbers, the game’s Steam player count stayed ahead of other notable summer releases on the platform, including Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
With version 1.0 introducing changes to the game’s open-world systems and technology progression, Pocketpair is expected to keep releasing additional bug fixes in the days ahead, though it’s still unknown what other problems remain on the developer’s internal checklist.
Meanwhile, players looking beyond Palworld have another survival-style title coming up: a Rust-like project that combines co-op mechanics from those popular hits with a Palworld-inspired visual approach and enemies described as similar to those found in Project Zomboid.
