Pearl Abyss Charts 2026 Roadmap for Black Desert Online at Heidel Ball 2026
Pearl Abyss used Heidel Ball 2026 to lay out a broad roadmap for Black Desert Online, focused on speeding up progression for newcomers and returning players, expanding endgame options, and modernizing the game’s technical stack. Alongside the next major class and new maritime and desert-region content, the studio also detailed a range of quality-of-life improvements aimed at making daily life in-game easier for both solo adventurers and guild groups.

HYPERBOOST targets faster route to endgame gear
The studio’s HYPERBOOST system is designed to reduce the time needed to reach Black Desert Online’s endgame content. It will primarily support new players and returning adventurers after they complete time in seasonal servers and the Olvia Academy. The goal is to help them more easily reach equipment levels appropriate for newer regions.
Pearl Abyss says multiple stronger gear sets should become more accessible, including Blackstar weapons, Kharazad accessories, and armor pieces from the God of the Decease. Additional help is also planned for progressing toward Sovereign weapons. The stated intent is to cut down on progression steps that have become too long, while still keeping long-term goals in place.
Level progression expands beyond today’s cap
Black Desert Online’s leveling system will be expanded with a “true” maximum level being introduced progressively. The first step raises the maximum to level 70, followed by an increase up to level 75.
These levels are not described as purely symbolic: they include offensive and defensive bonuses usable in PvE, with the expectation that progression beyond level 60 becomes more meaningful. Pearl Abyss also plans to widen the activities that grant experience—so players are not limited to killing monsters in combat zones as their only pathway.
Specific sources of progression mentioned include Territory Wars, Guild Bosses, the Black Shrine, and the Solare Arena.
More value in alts, with faster switching and automated help
Pearl Abyss wants secondary characters (alts) to feel more useful day-to-day. The update set includes faster switching between characters and the ability to meet some alts directly in the world and take control without going through the usual character-change process.
A new dispatch system will also let players assign certain tasks automatically to characters they don’t actively use. The activities called out for dispatch include fishing, harvesting, and transforming resources.
Overall, the changes aim to spread player progress across multiple characters instead of concentrating all activities into a single main adventurer.
Agent arrives as a gun-focused class, with Awakening planned for winter 2026
One of the biggest reveals at Heidel Ball 2026 is the Agent, a new playable class built around firearms. The class primarily uses revolvers, grenades, and the mysterious Hexround. Its combat style mixes ranged pressure, fast movement, and close-quarters techniques.
Pearl Abyss says the Agent will be able to reposition regularly to surprise opponents, then chain shots using different explosive abilities.
The class’s progression path is planned in two parts: the succession “will be offered first,” while Awakening is scheduled for winter 2026, bringing new weapons and changes to gameplay.
Marni’s Combat Analyzer adds deeper fight stats and a global PvP ranking
For testing builds and performance, Pearl Abyss is preparing a future Combat Analyzer by Marni. The tool is intended to provide more information about player performance during combat.
It will record damage dealt and damage taken, plus different control effects applied to enemies. The aim is to let players test equipment setups, skill rotations, and class performance with more precision.
In addition to the combat analytics, the studio plans a global PvP ranking. This would compile results for different classes across multiple competitive modes, giving a more accurate picture of real-world performance. Pearl Abyss also expects these data to help identify balance issues and adjust classes more effectively.
Maritime update: new monster, improved seafaring flow, and Ferrica development
Naval activities are receiving a major update. Pearl Abyss announced a new sea monster named Lyngbakr, positioned as a new objective for players who specialize in fighting at sea. The challenge will require ships equipped to a sufficient level.
The update also includes higher-tier ship equipment, plus improvements to trading, navigation, and maritime exploration to make those activities feel smoother. New areas are expected to accompany the update, including Cheongsa Island.
Work on Ferrica continues as well—described as a large mount capable of running quickly and gliding over certain distances.
Edania Part II expands endgame with five new territories
After Edania Part I, Pearl Abyss is preparing Edania Part II for advanced players. The expansion adds five new territories connected to Agris, Markthanan, Elion, Aal, and Hadum.
Each area is said to have its own identity, including new monster zones, boss encounters, and narrative elements. Players can also obtain new high-end accessories and gear, giving additional targets for adventurers who have already cleared demanding endgame content.
Life skills get streamlined gear setups and costume-to-crystal conversion
Pearl Abyss also detailed changes for life skills. Equipment used for fishing, harvesting, cooking, alchemy, and transforming resources will be groupable into dedicated loadouts.
That is intended to make it easier to move between professions without manually swapping equipment every time. The studio also plans to convert effects from certain functional costumes into crystals, allowing players to keep bonus effects while gaining more freedom over character appearance.
New “fame” system for guild progression
Guilds will receive a new progression system centered on “fame.” By participating in various guild activities, members can increase that fame. In turn, the guild unlocks shared bonuses, temporary effects, and other benefits usable by everyone in the guild.
Pearl Abyss says the system is meant to reward active guilds and recognize contributions from members not only during PvP activities.
Technical modernization: DirectX 12 plus DLSS and FSR support
On the performance side, Black Desert Online is expected to undergo a significant technical modernization through a move to DirectX 12. Pearl Abyss says this will help the engine make better use of modern components and improve performance over time.
The studio also plans to integrate upscaling technologies including NVIDIA’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR. Pearl Abyss expects these approaches to help players increase frame rates while maintaining high visual quality, particularly in crowded areas and during large-scale fights.
Comfort upgrades: planners, clearer quest logs, a treasure codex, and guild routes
A number of daily-life improvements are planned. A planner will track daily and weekly activities so players can see what’s available and how much reward remains. Adventure journals will be reorganized into a clearer presentation.
A treasure-focused codex is also planned to help players track rare items and the steps needed to obtain them. For guild play, guild members will be able to create and share routes visible directly in the world, intended to simplify group movement and preparation for activities.
Esports and celebration: World Finals set for early 2027
Pearl Abyss announced Master Class: World Finals, a new international PvP competition. The event is expected to bring top players from multiple regions together for a final in South Korea in the first half of 2027.
Heidel Ball 2026 also included cosmetic items, including a summer outfit, as well as related merchandise. The event featured login rewards, special items, and coupons distributed as part of the celebration.
What players should watch next
Most of the roadmap is described without exact rollout dates, aside from Agent Awakening in winter 2026 and the World Finals timing in early 2027. The biggest near-term questions for players are when HYPERBOOST and the level expansion will land, and how the DirectX 12 + DLSS/FSR changes will be scheduled relative to ongoing updates.
For veterans, the focus is on expanding endgame goals through level increases and Edania Part II, while also improving testing and balance visibility via Marni’s Combat Analyzer and the planned global PvP ranking. For newcomers and returning players, the pitch is clear: fewer bottlenecks, more accessible high-impact gear, and a smoother transition into modern content—supported by quality-of-life systems for alts, life skills, and guild progression.
