PlayStation Plus September 2026 Free Games Start Sept. 1

PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers (and, by extension, users of the Extra and Premium tiers) will be able to download four new games for free starting Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The promotion runs through the first Monday of October, giving players a full window to add the titles to their libraries.

Sniper Elite Resistance leads off the lineup as a World War II shooter set in Nazi-occupied France. Players take the role of agent Harry Hawker, tasked with stopping plans for conquest and invasion by the Third Reich. The game brings back the series’ familiar structure with a few changes, including a single-player or co-op campaign, the Kill Cam X-ray feature, and new stealth missions.

Available on PS4 and PS5, Sniper Elite Resistance is positioned as a comfortable, low-friction shooter rather than a major reinvention of the franchise. The pitch is that it’s enjoyable for short sessions when you want something less demanding than more complex games.

Wobbly Life is the next title coming to PS4 and PS5. It’s an open-world sandbox with a playful tone, centered on exploring a colorful and quirky world. Players complete mini-games, take on odd jobs to earn money, and use that cash to customize their character or buy vehicles, houses, and clothing.

The standout feature highlighted for Wobbly Life is its extreme ragdoll-style physics, alongside a variety of vehicles to drive around the city. The presentation is described as having an overly “squishy” aesthetic at times, with general design polish that isn’t considered exceptional.

The third September arrival is Chained Echoes, coming in the PS4 version. It’s described as a 16-bit style RPG that pays tribute to early-1990s classics such as Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest V, Final Fantasy VI, and Secret of Mana.

Overall, the September slate is framed as a solid but not standout selection, with particular note that the lineup includes four games rather than the usual three. The timing also matters for anyone still downloading August’s catalog: from September 1, PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers will no longer be able to access the August titles—Big Walk, Dying Light 2 Stay Human Reloaded Edition, and Signalis—so those will need to be claimed before the month rolls over.
