Raphinha Succeeds Neymar as Brazil’s New No. 10, Endrick Takes No. 9
Brazil have confirmed their shirt numbers for the 26-player squad heading into three international friendlies, with Raphinha handed the Selecao’s No. 10 and Endrick taking No. 9.
The Barcelona winger succeeds Neymar in the famous No. 10 jersey, worn for more than a decade by the former Brazil captain and previously associated with Pele and Ronaldinho. Raphinha, 29, is being positioned as a central creative figure as Brazil reshape their leadership group after the World Cup.
Endrick will wear the striker’s No. 9 after Matheus Cunha was left out of the squad for this international window. The Real Madrid teenager’s new number is another indication that Brazil see him as a key option to lead the line in the years ahead.
Young forwards given major roles
Estevao has been allocated No. 11 as the squad’s attacking rebuild gathers pace. Vinicius Junior remains Brazil’s No. 7.
At the other end of the pitch, captain Marquinhos keeps No. 4 and Gabriel Magalhaes continues with No. 3. Hugo Souza will wear No. 1 for the tour.
What happens next
Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil begin the trip against Australia in Townsville on Friday. They meet the Socceroos again in Brisbane four days later before closing the schedule against India in Kolkata on Saturday, November 3.
The three fixtures give Ancelotti and his staff an opportunity to assess fresh combinations, particularly in attack, before Brazil return to competitive action.
