Raspadori Leaves Italy Camp After Injury in Turkey Win
Italy forward Giacomo Raspadori has left the national-team camp after medical checks confirmed he will miss the rest of the international break.
Raspadori ruled out after Turkey injury
The Atalanta attacker was withdrawn at half-time during Italy’s 4-1 Nations League victory over Turkey and will now return to his club for complete rest.
Italy’s federation confirmed that Raspadori had been assessed by the Azzurri medical staff and was not fit to feature in the two upcoming fixtures. In its update, the FIGC said the forward had undergone tests, been prescribed full rest and would head back to Atalanta after his unavailability was established.
- Raspadori was injured in the first half of the win in Bursa.
- He will not travel to face Zinedine Zidane’s France at the Stade de France on Friday.
- He is also out of the home match against Turkey in Bologna on October 5.
- Nicolo Zaniolo had already departed the Italy camp before the Turkey game.
Mancini managing a reduced attack
Roberto Mancini has lost another attacking option at a time when Italy’s finishing has faced close scrutiny. The four goals against Turkey eased immediate pressure, but Raspadori’s movement and technical quality had made him an important part of the group.
The Italy coach must now decide whether to bring in another player or continue with the forwards already in the squad for the France trip and the Bologna return fixture.
Recovery work begins at Coverciano
Italy returned straight to their Coverciano base after the Bursa victory and have begun preparations for the match in Saint-Denis.
Mancini has separated the workload in the opening sessions to protect players who logged heavy minutes against Turkey. Those who started the match have followed a recovery programme, while squad members on the fringes and players who did not make the Turkey trip have completed more demanding tactical work.
- Training took place at Fiorentina’s Viola Park facilities.
- The non-starting group worked through attack-versus-defence exercises.
- Italy are aiming to keep the remaining squad fresh despite losing Raspadori from the attacking unit.
