Ruben Amorim Eyes Historic Start as AC Milan Face Juventus
AC Milan head to Juventus with a perfect Serie A record and the chance for Ruben Amorim to become only the fourth coach to win his opening three league matches in charge of the Rossoneri.
Milan have beaten Torino and Venezia to start the campaign with six points from six. Their trip to Turin is their first match since the transfer window closed and follows Rafael Leao’s departure.
Record arrival Goncalo Ramos is expected to spearhead the attack after scoring his first Serie A goal in only his second appearance, against Venezia. Milan have also lost Alvaro Morata and Christopher Nkunku, raising questions over the depth available up front.
Amorim backs Milan squad despite striker concern
Amorim insisted he is fully satisfied with the group at his disposal, even while acknowledging Milan could feel short in the centre-forward role.
“My players are among the best in the world,” Amorim said. “I’m not going to rate it an eight or nine. Every player we signed fits our team perfectly, so it is a 10. I have the best squad in the world.
“You have to assess the situation. We know that having two strikers with different qualities might have helped us. We do not know what will happen and perhaps we could be a little light in that position.
“We can also use three players rotating in attack. We play plenty of man-to-man football, so in some matches it can help to have a forward with a profile similar to Christian Pulisic.”
Juventus arrive with two clean sheets
Juventus have also made a flawless domestic start, winning against Frosinone and Parma without conceding. Milan will therefore face a Bianconeri defence that has yet to be beaten in Serie A this season.
Amorim said pressure has surrounded his side since pre-season, when results were less convincing amid heavy rotation and travel, but he believes Milan are prepared for their first major away examination.
“For big clubs, every game is important,” he said. “I understand the attention around a side like Juventus. It is a good test to find out whether we have progressed since last week.
“It matters that we perform well away from home against a strong team and a very good coach. I’m excited, not concerned. I believe my team is ready.”
What happens next
The Turin meeting comes before the international break and will test the early ambitions of both unbeaten sides. A Milan victory would preserve top spot, extend Amorim’s winning start and provide an immediate answer to concerns over how the Rossoneri will cope after their late attacking departures.
