Albion Online Dragonfire Update Launches August 31 With New PvE Dragon Raids
Albion Online’s next major PvE-focused update is set to arrive on August 31, bringing a new “dragons” feature called Dragonfire. Sandbox Interactive says the update is designed to deliver large-scale, high-stakes encounters in areas players haven’t seen before—plus progression rewards for both open-world adventurers and organized groups.
Dragonfire launches August 31
Sandbox Interactive describes Dragonfire as unleashing one of the most requested features in Albion Online’s history: Dragons. The studio’s pitch is centered on “epic” PvE fights occurring in previously unseen realms, with access intended for multiple playstyles.
Face Azaryon in new realms and a raid-style dungeon
The update’s headline objective is battling Azaryon, the fire dragon. Sandbox Interactive calls Azaryon “the most challenging PvE objective in the game to date,” positioning it as Albion Online’s biggest PvE trial yet.
Players will also encounter dragon attacks in the open-world zones, and progress through a set of new locations called the Ancient Lands. These are described as floating islands above Albion, connected by portals, populated by Ashborn mobs and Drakes.
As adventurers push deeper, the update introduces escalating danger from both local inhabitants and rival groups of players. Those who make it far enough can enter the Dragon Sanctuary, a raid dungeon-style area built around group-based encounters. The dungeon includes fights against Fire Drakes and Ashborn enemies before culminating in the faction’s leader, Azaryon—earned by completing the dungeon’s challenges.
Dragon Sanctuary activities: raids, eggs, and new rewards
Beyond the core Azaryon fight, Dragonfire adds a mix of PvE activities aimed at sustained engagement. The update includes group raiding in the Dragon Sanctuary, additional encounters tied to Fire Drakes and Ashborn mobs, and an item-tending system where players can care for drake eggs to raise their own fire drake mounts.
Additional content and progression updates
Alongside the dragon-themed gameplay, Dragonfire also brings new lore fragments and journal missions. The update further adds resource guardians and destiny board specialization node buffs, expanding both the narrative layer and character/progression options.
Teaser trailer released
A teaser trailer for Dragonfire is available as part of the update’s announcement, offering players an early look ahead of the August 31 release.
