Marc Cucurella has warned Real Madrid cannot afford even a moment of complacency after the 4-1 victory over Sevilla, saying the side’s difficult trip to Roma earlier in the week delivered a timely reminder.

The left-back completed the full match against Sevilla as Madrid produced a high-energy display from the start. He said the squad responded strongly after being tested in Rome during a demanding eight-day run of fixtures.

Quick facts

  • Real Madrid beat Sevilla 4-1.
  • Cucurella played all 90 minutes.
  • Madrid recovered from a scare in their midweek match in Rome.
  • Several different Madrid players found the net against Sevilla.
  • RB Leipzig visit the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday in the Champions League.

“Winning makes everything feel better and more straightforward,” Cucurella said after the Sevilla game. “We had a difficult moment on Wednesday in Rome, but we were able to come through it.”

He added that the European test had made the message clear: Madrid must give everything in every fixture and must not switch off at any stage. Cucurella felt the Sevilla performance showed that response, with every player doing his job in a convincing team display.

The defender also stressed that Madrid’s push across several competitions will depend on contributions throughout the group, not only from the starting XI.

“It is a collective game: 11 against 11, with the players on the bench as well,” he said. “Everybody has to help with the minutes they receive. The team is what matters most.”

Cucurella pointed to the spread of scorers against Sevilla as further evidence of that collective approach. Madrid are also being strengthened by the return of players from injury as the campaign develops.

Next up is Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with RB Leipzig at the Bernabeu, where Madrid will target three important points.
