Milan arrive at the Red Bull Arena needing an immediate response after their 2-0 defeat to Benfica. Amorim has opted to protect several senior players ahead of this weekend’s Serie A meeting with Atalanta, while injuries have also limited his options.

Luka Modric and Goncalo Ramos are among the established names given a break. Camarda will lead the attack, with Alphadjo Cisse and Ruben Loftus-Cheek operating behind him. Omari Hutchinson starts in a wing-back role.

Tomori’s inclusion is a significant development after the defender was left out of the picture during the summer transfer window. He joins Koni De Winter and Strahinja Pavlovic in a back three, with Milan expected to use a 3-4-2-1 shape.

Confirmed teams

RB Salzburg (4-2-3-1): Zawieschitzky; Morgalla, Boma, Zabransky, Schmid; Barry, Mazurek; Lindstrom, Kitano, Baidoo; Tabakovic.

AC Milan (3-4-2-1): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Hutchinson, Jashari, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Loftus-Cheek, Cisse; Camarda.

Salzburg begin the match with confidence after their winning start against Levski Sofia, when Tabakovic settled the contest. The Austrian side have not lost in five UEFA outings this season and have kept clean sheets in each of their last three European games.

Goalkeeper Christian Zawieschitzky has recovered from an adductor problem to start. Napoli-owned winger Jesper Lindstrom is also selected for the hosts, alongside Tabakovic in an attack that includes Kitano and Baidoo.

What happens next: Milan must turn their European campaign around in Austria before switching focus to Atalanta, while Salzburg can strengthen their position with another result against the Italian side.
