Slavic Magic readies Manor Lords update for July beta after tech refactor
Slavic Magic is ready to resume feature development for Manor Lords, with its next major update moving into beta testing before the end of July. After a period of technical refactoring to stabilize the game’s core systems, the studio says it’s now prepared to push a batch of new building, farming, trading, and world-expansion features to players.
Construction Yard changes: basic vs advanced buildings
A central addition in the incoming beta is a new tiering system for structures, splitting them into “basic” and “advanced” categories. Advanced construction requires the player to staff a Construction Yard with skilled builders.
The Construction Yard is also tied to logistics upgrades. It features multiple handcarts for moving materials around, and supports Ox Carts for heavier loads—though Slavic Magic notes that these ox carts now need to be manually loaded. Skilled builders will also be able to complete basic-tier structures faster.
While advanced buildings take longer to raise, the update adds more visible process detail during construction. Expect additional scaffolds and cranes to appear and disappear as work progresses, alongside worker tasks such as carrying water from nearby wells and mixing mortar. The studio says these visuals are based on actual historical examples.
New livestock loop: cows, milk, meat, and cheese
The beta introduces the ability to import and breed cows. Cows will live on pastures, and the former Sheep Farm workforce is renamed to Livestock Farm to reflect the expanded role.
With cows in place, players can collect milk or butcher animals for beef. Slavic Magic is also adding a new Cheesemonger artisan to provide another use for dairy production, framing it as a foundation for future regional perks tied to local cheese traditions.
Pastures revamped with cost, time, and new behavior
Pastures are not a straight copy of the previous grazing system. They now require an investment of planks and a construction time, with costs that scale dynamically based on pasture size. Slavic Magic also adds water shelters for pastures, built using examples from historical manuscripts.
Livestock behavior is improved as well, and feeding becomes part of the routine. The update adds oats as a new crop described as easy to grow, which can be processed into animal feed or used to support town food needs.
Seasonal realism: workplace scheduling and breeding cycles
To reduce constant seasonal micromanagement, Slavic Magic is adding season-specific assignments for every workplace. In addition, the production and breeding cycles of both cows and sheep will be influenced by seasons, with the stated goal of adding more realism to how long farming tasks take.
World and economy updates: new map, church, and trading filters
The update also expands the game world and improves trading controls. A new map is coming, described as a wide-open valley where two rivers meet in the middle.
On the content side, the Large Stone Church—previously teased as a long-awaited structure—will finally be added. For the economy layer, trading posts will receive storage filters, letting players manually specify which categories of goods each trading post handles.
Timeline: beta by end of July, main game by end of August
Slavic Magic plans to publish this next Manor Lords beta on the testing branch by the end of July. If everything goes smoothly, the studio expects the update to be available in the main game by the end of August, followed by more development perks after that.
