Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Removed From Xbox Game Pass

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 has been removed from the July 2026 Xbox Game Pass lineup, disrupting a subscription plan that was originally set to bring the 2020 remaster bundle to subscribers on July 21. Microsoft has not provided an official reason for the change, but reporting points to licensing problems as the cause, with Activision still working to secure the approvals needed for the game to join the service.

The game, developed by Vicarious Visions (now Blizzard Albany), is a bundle that remasters Activision’s original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater titles from the early 2000s. Microsoft has owned Activision Blizzard King since completing its acquisition in October 2023, and it has gradually expanded the Activision Blizzard King catalog on Xbox Game Pass since then. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was announced for Xbox Game Pass on July 21, 2026, but Microsoft later updated its July “Wave 1” lineup announcement on July 13 to remove the title entirely.

PlayDayOne has reported that licensing issues were behind the removal, citing an Activision representative. The specific categories of content involved were not clarified, with possibilities including music, likeness rights, or other licensed material. What is clear is that Activision is reportedly still seeking the approvals required to get the remasters onto Xbox Game Pass, and as of mid-July 2026 there has been no confirmed timeline for when those approvals might land.

It’s also notable that the later remaster pair, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, has been on Xbox Game Pass from day one since July 2025. Because Activision Blizzard was already part of Microsoft by then, the licensing process may have been more straightforward for that release compared with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. Even after this July setback, Xbox Game Pass still has another scheduled addition on July 21: The Planet Crafter, an open-world sci-fi sandbox adventure.

In the meantime, Activision’s confidence that the licensing issues can eventually be resolved has not come with any concrete date. If the parties involved fail to agree, this could turn into a longer-term absence from Xbox Game Pass. Licensing complications have previously affected Microsoft’s subscription catalog—for example, Forza Horizon 4 was delisted from all platforms in December 2024 due to expiring licenses. While cancellations of Xbox Game Pass releases are uncommon, they do happen; the most recent cited example was Football Manager 2025 being canceled, which led to FM24 staying on Xbox Game Pass instead.
