Bethesda has teased the next major Fallout 76 seasonal update, confirming that Bigfoot is set to join the game as part of the Backwoods update when Season 24 begins on March 3.

Bigfoot confirmed for Season 24’s Backwoods update

  1. Bethesda released a teaser video hinting at Bigfoot’s arrival using footage-style attempts to capture the creature.
  2. Bigfoot is scheduled to be included when the Backwoods update launches alongside Season 24 on March 3.
  3. Bigfoot is not new to the game—his footprints have already been seen in the Burning Springs update, and the creature has also randomly spawned during public events.
  4. The teaser suggests Bigfoot will move from occasional sightings to a more prominent role going forward.

Fallout 76 already features a range of cryptids that players can encounter in combat, including the Jersey Devil, Mothman, Wendigo, Sheepsquatch, Blue Devil, and the Smiling Man. With Bigfoot joining the roster as part of the Backwoods update, he’s expected to be added as another fightable cryptid—potentially as a miniboss-style encounter—alongside the game’s existing creature roster.

Fallout TV tie-ins and cast decisions

Fallout 76 has seen a boost in attention following the Prime Video Fallout series. Walton Goggins’ character, The Ghoul, was added to the game during the Burning Springs update, and at the time of the report he was described as the only show character with a major role in the game so far.

Looking ahead to the TV side, the report also notes that Aaron Moten—Goggins’ co-star on the show—has chosen not to participate in any Fallout games while portraying Maximus, a former Brotherhood of Steel member. It was further suggested that The Ghoul’s situation involving an enigmatic character in Season 2 could influence how prominently Moten’s actor is featured in Season 3.
