Roblox Plus Limits Free Private Servers to One per Game

Roblox is ending the “unlimited” private server benefit tied to Roblox Plus, saying the feature was being used in a way that disrupted game economies and reduced revenue for creators. Starting September 24, Plus subscribers will be limited to one free private server per game, while additional servers can still be purchased at the creator-set price.

What’s changing for Roblox Plus private servers

Roblox Corporation says a small number of Roblox Plus users were creating “thousands of free paid private servers” per game with broad access. The company now characterizes that activity as having unintentionally impacted creator revenue and disrupting the in-game economy.

To address the issue, Roblox will restrict Roblox Plus subscribers to a single included private server per game once the change goes live on September 24. The company explains that when it introduced unlimited private servers, the aim was to give Plus members flexibility, but it did not expect this level of sharing and scale.

Will you still be able to buy extra servers?

Yes. Roblox says the option to purchase additional private servers at a price set by the creator will remain available. In the company’s words, this continues to create a direct way for creators to earn more from players who want extra private spaces.

How to tell which server will keep renewing

If you currently have more than one private server for a game, Roblox says all but one will stop renewing after September 24—unless you manually renew the additional servers at the creator’s listed price.

To see which instance is set to remain, Roblox directs users to check their subscriptions menu and look for the private server labeled “Included with Roblox Plus.”

Free servers from creators are still allowed

Roblox notes that creators can continue offering private servers for free. If a creator’s deal is set to free, subscribers should still be able to create multiple servers under that arrangement. The restriction described by Roblox applies to servers that are not free—those will be capped at one included private server per game for Plus subscribers.
