Xbox Game Pass Brings Mavrix, a New Open-World Sports Simulation
Xbox Game Pass is adding Mavrix by Matt Jones to its library, bringing a new open-world sports simulation into the subscription lineup. This is the fifth new entry slated for July 2026 and the 113th release being rolled out to the service this year.
Built by the British studio Third Kind Games, Mavrix is set across a 100-square-kilometer mountain region inspired heavily by Wales. Players can take on downhill runs, slopestyle routes, and a range of hidden objectives, with multiple opportunities to replay stages in order to sharpen race times, improve trick results, and climb the leaderboard. The project also leans into Matt Jones’s involvement beyond branding: he co-founded the publisher Cascade Interactive and worked as a lead biking consultant.
Unlike many modern biking titles that favor fast arcade-style pacing, Mavrix is designed to be simulation-first, aiming for a tougher, more technical ride experience. That focus on realism is positioned as the game’s key differentiator as it arrives on Xbox Game Pass.

Mavrix Lands on Xbox Game Pass After 1 Year
Mavrix originally launched into early access on PC and PS5 in July 2025, then expanded to the Xbox Series X/S in January 2026. The game’s official 1.0 release is dated July 16, matching its debut on Xbox Game Pass. Even though it’s not positioned as a full day-one launch, subscribers can access it right away across Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass.
Availability includes play on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. There’s also a note for handheld PC owners: the game is described as optimized for handheld devices in the spirit of the ROG Ally line. As of mid-July 2026, Mavrix has accumulated hundreds of “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam, reflecting strong early reception on the storefront.
Mavrix also carries an extra milestone for subscribers: it’s described as the first hardcore mountain biking simulation to appear on Microsoft’s subscription service. It arrives just under a year after Wheel World, a cozy mountain biking experience, debuted on Xbox Game Pass.
Wheel World has also recently seen a notable drop in price on the Xbox Store, moving from $19.99 to $11.99. That kind of discount often happens ahead of changes to subscription availability, and it may hint that the title could be preparing to leave the service soon.
